The Mindful Camp, known for running some of the first social-emotional learning focused camps in Singapore, offers structured programmes for children as young as four up to teenagers aged 14. We take a closer look at how their approach works and what options are available this summer.

More Than Just Play: Why Social-Emotional Learning Matters

The team behind The Mindful Camp believes that camps are a powerful setting for children to learn skills that stay with them long after the camp ends. While fun and activities are a big part of the experience, every programme is built around social-emotional learning, or SEL. That means children are not just playing games. Through shared activities with peers, they are also building meaningful connections, learning to work in teams, and developing emotional awareness.

Equally important, TMC positions itself as a team of caring and supportive educators who create a safe space where children feel comfortable trying new things and making friends.

What Camps Are Available This Summer

With the summer break approaching, here is an overview of the camps currently offered. Programmes take place either at Swiss Club or Dulwich College Singapore.

River Camp for ages 4 to 6 Four themes rotate on a weekly basis.

In Occupation, children strengthen their understanding of completing tasks and teamwork as they explore different roles through interactive games. In Amazing Forest, they build agility and strength through obstacle courses and create a nature journal based on a rainforest adventure. In the Dr Suess inspired camp, they explore imaginative play, storytelling, character invention, rhyme and movement to music. In Team Lab, children learn to see setbacks as stepping stones through simple experiments, making predictions and testing ideas in a science friendly setting.

Mountain Camp for ages 7 to 9 and Falcon Camp for ages 10 to 14 Two themes rotate weekly.

In Life Skills, campers practise practical abilities such as using Morse code flashes, and building and launching a mini catapult. They also get creative by hosting a pretend podcast or recording a short story. In Connection, campers build confidence and friendships through shared adventures like botanical printmaking, learning basic sign language, and creating a storybook or comic using simple AI tools.

The Ascent for ages 8 to 14 This is a sleepover camp designed to build resilience. Practical Details You Should Know

The Mindful Camp has been running programmes since 2013. Camps start from 750 dollars per week and take place either at Swiss Club or Dulwich College Singapore. Facilitators are first aid certified and trained, with a ratio of one facilitator to eight children.

Daily lunch and snacks are provided, with options for regular, vegetarian, gluten free, egg and dairy free, and seafood free diets. As part of a structured rest programme, campers enjoy a designated quiet time to unwind by choosing board games, drawing, reading or a short nap. There are also curated short, age appropriate films that complement the week’s themes. Total screen time is kept under 30 minutes per week.

Final Takeaway

Summer camps no longer have to be just about keeping children occupied. For families looking to combine fun with genuine skill building, programmes that focus on social emotional learning offer a thoughtful alternative. Whether your child is four or fourteen, the right camp can turn a holiday week into a meaningful step forward in confidence, connection and resilience.
